Made for use with Poxy Shield paints, this epoxy primer can even be applied to damp surfaces and is a required first coat for resurfacing smooth plaster, smooth concrete or gel coated swimming pools. For best results, we recommend cleaning the surface with a pool surface cleaner before applying the primer.

      Technical Specifications:

      • Apply One coat before painting with Super Poxy Sheild
      • Coverage: Approximately 200 square feet per gallon.
      • For surface preparation:
             – Wash the pool with Tri-Sodium Phosphate. DO NOT use a soap-type detergent. It can leave a flim on the surface which will result in poor paint adhesion.
             – Acid etching is required on bare masonry surfaces like concrete or plaster. It is also effective for removing chalky residue and hard mineral deposits on a previously painted pool.
–We highly recommend repeating STEP 1: Wash the surface again with the tri-sodium phosphate solution to neutralize any remaining acid on the surface.

What kind of surface can the Epoxy Primer be used on?
      – The Epoxy Primer can be used on most smooth surfaces. It can also be used on bare plaster or bare concrete, but can not be used on fiberglass. If the customer has a fiberglass pool they must use the Gunite Primer.

What is the coverage on the Epoxy Primer?
      – The Epoxy Primer coverage is 200 square feet per gallon.

Can this primer be applied to a wet surface?
      – YES, the Epoxy Primer can be applied to a slightly wet surface.

How to Calculate the Square Footage of a Pool:
      1. Identify the shape of the pool - SEE BELOW
      2. Use the formula given to calculate the pool square footage.
      3. Divide the pools square footage by the sq. ft. per gallon of the desired paint to determine how many gallons of paint are needed.

Pool Shape  Formula  Rectangular  Length x Width x 1.5 = Total Square Feet  Oval  Length x Width x 1.65 = Total Square Feet  Roman  Length x Width x 1.55 = Total Square Feet  Lazy L  Length x Width x 1.65 = Total Square Feet  Free Form  Length x Width x 1.6 = Total Square Feet
