What's Wrong with other Commercially Available Products, to Protect my Cover & Pool Walls?
The problem with other available options to help secure your Air Pillow is that they simply don't work well! Adhesive-based products are typically not designed to adhere well to the Cover under freezing weather conditions, like the Pool Pillow Pal does. And traditional tie-and-rope products can break & tangle, minimizing their effectiveness and creating a problem you cannot resolve during the frozen winter months... in those cases, you simply have to wait for the damage to occur, come spring-time.
Can't I Simply "Tent" my Winter Cover to Prevent Ice & Snow from Forming?
No, because "tenting" your Winter Cover puts strain on both the Cover and on the walls of your pool, which could damage the pool by the time the spring thaw arrives. Also, it's impossible to prevent all of the ice and snow from accumulating on your Winter Cover, and once it does start to accumulate, it will cause a dip in the Winter Cover, allowing more & more accumulation and greater & greater strain on the Cover and Pool.
Do I Need to Use a Long Air pillow for my Oval Aboveground Pool?
Some larger Oval Pools are better served with an oblong Air Pillow (usually either 4' x 8' or 4.5' x 15') instead of standard square or circular shaped Air Pillows. If you plan to use a single oblong Air Pillow, we suggest using two sets of Pool Pillow Pals on the Air Pillow (spaced approximately 4' apart) to prevent twisting. Or, you could opt for two standard Air Pillows (each with one Pool Pillow Pal).
Does my Air Pillow Need to be Centered in the Middle of the Pool?
Yes, a properly centered Air Pillow will help distribute the weight of snow & ice equally, to minimize the chance of crimped pool walls, and to prevent straining or tugging on your Winter Cover due to uneven weight distribution. And in the Spring when the ice & snow begin to thaw, you'll reduce the instance of shifting heavy chunks of ice, which can damage your Cover, Liner and Pool wall.
Do I Need to Use an Air Pillow with my Winter Cover?
If you live in an area with below-freezing winter temperatures, an Air Pillow is absolutely critical to protect your aboveground pool from potentially costly ice expansion damage while it's closed for the season. Additionally, Pool Pillow Pal helps secure your winter cover during windy winter conditions, for longer cover life.
