Not sure if you have been following the hoverboard craze, but in the movie Back to the Future II, set in 2015, Marty McFly rode a hoverboard.
Then there was the infamous Tony Hawk hoverboard hoax, but since then scientists and hobbyists have been working day and night to create a working hoverboard.
World's First Pool Hoverboard At Swimways, in Virginia Beach, Va, developers have announced the first underwater hoverboard! Capable of underwater speeds of up to 6 mph, the HydroHover™ has an onboard motor that is rechargeable.
"We are primarily a pool accessory company", stated a company rep at Swimways. "But the HydroHover can be used in lakes and ocean as well". Indeed, scuba and snorkeling fans could use the HydroHover to replace fins and flippers.
Swimways product developers have been working on prototypes for over a year, and are thrilled to have the pool hoverboard ready for the 2016 summer season. "We worked literally, day and night, to meet impossible deadlines. The HydroHover is unique to the world of pool toys - nothing else like it!".
How It Works The HydroHover™ has a small sealed motor in the center of the 3" closed cell foam board. The propulsion tube borrows technology from modern jet engine construction, with a series of small rotating water fan cages, turbo activated with venturi inlet fittings.
The motor is powered by 8 mAh rechargeable AA batteries. Simply plug the adapter into the port and into any wall outlet to charge the pool hoverboard in the 4 hours.
Company representatives say that shipments of HydroHover begin April 1, to retailers across North America. "It will definitely be the biggest pool toy of the season, if not for the next 10 years".
Prices range from $79 -$99 for the HydroHover. Oh, and my apologies - the HydroHover is not real, these are pictures of the foam Subskate by Swimways (no motor). Happy April Fool's Day!
