It prevents the sun's UV rays from penetrating into the water, which prevents algae build-up during the off-season. Plus - debris, direct and particulates that fall through the Cover rest on the Keeper Klean instead of getting into your pool water. In the spring, simply remove the Cover and Keeper Klean.
